What started as an initiative in Australia in 2007 has today grown into a worldwide movement. Earth Hour is celebrated every year by organisations and individuals around the world, when for one hour all power consumption is switched off to represent support towards greener living.
On the 25th of March, GRT Hotels & Resorts switched off lights in its Chennai hotels, as it has done over the last few years.
As a group, we are committed towards greener, more sustainable business and take many steps at our properties – from composting kitchen waste and using energy efficient lights, to waste segregating and reducing water usage.
At the Radisson Blu Hotel GRT Chennai, we even made a fabulous cake that all our guests got to enjoy, and brought out the pretty candles too!
At Grand Chennai by GRT Hotels, the team served guests at the restaurants in beautiful candlelight, there were saplings for everyone to take home and plant, and the staff also ate dinner in the dark!
At the Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay Mamallapuram, we’re blessed with a lovely beach along the property. The teams took to the sands to display their sculpting skills with sea creatures – having fun and raising awareness at the same time.
