Defining Culture in Hotels

‘I Say Yes’ service Philosophy of GRT Hotels

Everyone talks about workplace culture – that mysterious word that defines a work environment.

Culture is the environment that surrounds you at work all of the time. It is a powerful emotion that determines your job satisfaction, your workplace relationships, and your work itself. But, culture is something that you cannot actually see, except through its physical manifestations in your work place. Like that dude ,GOD !!

In many ways, culture is like your personality 🙂

Your personality is made up of the values, beliefs, underlying assumptions, interests, experiences, upbringing, childhood incidents  and habits that create a person’s behavior. It is also determines your dreams and your passions.

Culture is made up of the values, beliefs, underlying assumptions, attitudes, dreams, passions and behaviors shared by a group-of-people. Culture is the behavior that results when a group arrives at a set of – generally unspoken and unwritten – rules for working together. Its something like a Group Personality!

A hotels culture is made up of all of the life experiences each employee brings to the organization. Culture is especially influenced by the company’s Founder,  Chief  Executive officer, Chief  Operating officer , General Manager, Heads of Departments , and other managerial staff because of their role in decision-making and strategic direction.

Culture is represented in the group’s language, decision-making, symbols, stories , legends and daily work practices. The hotel culture is set by your bulletin board content, the company newsletter, the interaction of employees in meetings, and the way in which people collaborate.

In GRT Hotels we believe that we can structure our culture by telling stories and sharing it everyday with everyone in the company.  Heart warming stories of associates going out of their way to bring delight to the guests or even fellow employees .

We believe we can do this through our  structured service philosophy of GRT Hotels:
